Early last week I was out in San Diego for a quick trip with my bestie. We had so much fun and if you’ve never made your way there, I would highly recommend adding it to your short list of must-visit locations!
We stayed at the Andaz San Diego, which is a boutique hotel located right in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter. It’s in close proximity to a ton of amazing restaurants, shops and nightlife and has THE most amazing rooftop ever.
It’s super trendy and has the such a cool vibe and decor all throughout the hotel, which is carried over into the rooms as well. The rooms were really nice size and I loved the overall setup of ours.
When we arrived they had the sweetest amenities waiting for us in our room, a coffee tumbler and a bag of their very own coffee bean blend!
Our first night there we grabbed a quick bite at Karl Strauss Brewing Company and made our way back to the Andaz San Diego and up to the rooftop to hang out by the fire and sip on some yummy drinks. It’s seriously the coziest set up and they even have blankets you can cozy up with.
The next day we grabbed brunch at the cutest little spot, Cafe 21, which was a recommend to us by the super friendly front desk staff at Andaz San Diego, and it did not disappoint! We shared the Salmon Omelet and the Bananas Fosters Cast Iron Dutch Pancake, both of which were AMAZING!
I got a mimosa flight (serves two people, but I ordered it for myself lol), which includes 6 different mimosa flavors, because they all sounded so good and I couldn’t narrow it down to one! I loved every flavor, aside from one of them that was a bit too sweet for my taste.
After that, we did some hiking at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park which had such amazing views. The path is right along the ocean and I would highly recommend checking it out.
It was definitely a little on the cooler side while we were there most days (upper 60’s – low 70’s), so layers were definitely necessary and obviously the closer to the water we were the cooler it was, so hitting the beach wasn’t really an option, unfortunately.
Our second day there, we head over to the La Jolla area which is so pretty and has such a quaint feel to it. We grabbed lunch at Duke’s. They have soooo many delicious drinks—we first ordered the Cove Lemonade and a Bloody Mary and then we switched to the Lavender Colada and oh my goodness, this is the best thing I have ever tasted!
We like to try a bunch of different things, so we ordered a bunch of dishes and shared them. It was actually restaurant week while we were there so they had a tasting menu that we ordered from.
We tried the Calamari, the Blackened Sashimi and the Fish Tacos. The Blackened Sashimi was delicious and so was the Calamari, but the Fish Tacos were a little too fishy for my liking.
A few of my other favorites spots we made our way to was Little Italy where we ate at Barbusa and Civico 1845, both have amazing ambiance and the food was out of this world! We also popped in at was Copa Vida (another recommendation from the Andaz San Diego staff) where I had a vanilla latte and my friend got a match latte, both were so yummy!
Our very last stop of the trip was to Donut Bar. I had the Lemon Pistachio Donut, my friend has the Nutella Overload Donut and then we both got a cold brew coffee flavored with coconut, I forget the exact name of the drink but you’d know it if you saw it on the menu.
The donuts were pretty darn good and we had not problem polishing them off even though they are seriously gigantic!
Our last day there was by far the warmest so we spent the morning at the rooftop pool at the Andaz San Diego and it was sooooo relaxing.
They have the cutest set up with a ton our lounge chairs and beds and cabanas, and we actually ended up having the whole pool area to ourselves! It was the perfect way to end out trip.
If you ever make your way to San Diego, I would highly recommend staying at the Andaz San Diego. You’ll be right in the heart of the city and I can guarantee you’ll never want to leave their rooftop!

A big thank you to Andaz San Diego for the complimentary stay and experience. As always, all opinions are my own.
